A2 Media Studies
This is Wiktoria Wojciechowska's coursework blog for A2 Media Studies 2017/2018.
Evaluation
For the evaluation of my coursework, I decided that making a website would be the best way to present it. Blogger has a tendency to make certain layout aspects a bit awkward and hard to manage, so I used wix.com instead - I thought it was the most clear and aesthetically pleasing way to arrange everything.
The website can be found under THIS link.
The questions each subpage on the website answers are as follow:
- QUESTION 1 - In what ways do your music video, CDD and MMA use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real music videos, CDDs and MMAs?
- QUESTION 2 - How effective is the combination of your music video and ancillary texts?
- QUESTION 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?
- QUESTION 4 - How did you use media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Construction: Music Video Editing
The short video below is the sped up procedure I've gone through whilst editing my music video. I have encountered plenty of issues - such as Premiere Pro refusing to cooperate and quitting without saving an hours worth of work, or the PC suddenly restarting out of nowhere - but I managed to overcome them and eventually finished the edit.
You can see that version of the video below:
This was just the first version of the video, before any audience feedback or tweaking; I knew that I needed to make some changes. First big one after acquiring some audience feedback was how small and seemingly not very important some of the jumpcuts were towards the end of the video (especially in the bit when the character was lying down on the bed). I decided to play around with the energetic bit even more - to see how much more chaotic I could make it with the limited footage I had.
As well as that, I myself noticed some minor mistakes to fix: such as the poorly chosen colour of the title or the jump between the mirrored shot, which was slightly weirdly delayed and followed by a black screen for a fraction of a second. All of these were fixed in this version of the video, which is my final one:
Before I exported that version of the video, I decided to look a bit more into the available presets; the earlier version had some frame compression issues with resulted in weird lines on the edges of each moving object. With new settings, more fitting to the source material and the upload destination, this version looks much sharper and much more professional.

Construction: Music Video Filming
Below is a short video from the set of my production; since for most of the filming it was only me and one of the actors, there wasn't much opportunity to get any footage from an outsider's perspective. However, there are plenty of bloopers caught on camera (with my voice coming from nowhere, or so it seems), and they show how much fun filming actually was.
Research & Planning: Shotlist
Since writing the treatment, I have changed and added certain shots; when putting together the animatic I realised that I might be lacking some footage if I go through with my original ideas. Hence why shots I haven't thought of before appear on the shotlist for my video.
