Research & Planning: Detailed Research Into Chosen Artist: Vagabon

After thinking carefully about the three potential choices I made, I decided to move forward with the song 'Fear & Force' by Vagabon. However, before focusing on the actual track itself, I had to conduct a detailed research into the artist.

Background and Music: Vagabon, or Laetitia Tamko, was born in Cameroon. At the age of 13 she and her family had to move to New York, so that her mother could attend law school. Tamko then attended the City College of New York and graduated from the Grove School of Engineering in 2014.

At the age of 17, she begged her parents to buy her a guitar (which they did) so that she could learn how to play music herself. From simple Taylor Swift songs, to being able to write her own music; she started uploading to Bandcamp under the pseudonym Vagabon.

After being invited to perform on a small stage in NYC, a new universe opened for her. Before, she thought that in the music world you're either a stage giant or you keep you passion within the walls of the family home; after that performance, she found new influence and inspiration. From a girl who got bullied because of her shaved head (which is rather unusual in Cameroon) to a growing artist, getting support from the indie community.

Career to Date: She began with posting music on Bandcamp (with the encouragement of her friend), then got invited to a NYC gig in Silent Barn. Since then, she has gained online popularity and gone on tour with her 2017 album Infinite Worlds.
